can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.
The Art of
FBN takes Grifting very seriously as this is one area in which FBN
actually strives for excellence. Grifting is an art and we at FBN
pride ourselves as being artists. We don't strive for technical
excellence as that just reduces the potential for billable hours.
Why become so good you bill less hours. Feigning incompetence
allows for the billing of almost unlimited time.
Grifting requires one to be the ultimate opportunist which can quickly
react to changing situations. The tougher the situation the
greater the satisfaction of the con. Where in general situations
repeat, human greed is predictable but often details demand a slightly
different approach to every customer, or mark as we refer to them
behind their backs. Reading the marks and making the mark believe
you are delivering what they see as value is one of the secrets to
successfully scamming the customer.
Grifting requires that you dehumanize the customer in your mind.
You never want to feel sorry for the person you screw. Better to
think of them as stupid and fools so the better you screw them the
better you feel. You must believe you are doing the world a favor
as you relieve your customers, or marks, of more than a reasonable
amount of money.
One must look at the world from a Darwinian perspective. You are
aiding the economic survival of the fittest by separating the fools, or
call them customers or marks - whatever suits you, from their
money. The average person behaves as part of the herd regardless
of the obvious direction and resulting destination. The Dutch
Tulip Bulb bubble, the South Seas episode of the early 1700s, the stock
market bubble of the 1920s, the stock market bust of 2000/2001 and the
dot-com gold rush are all good examples of the herd driving themselves
over the cliff so to speak. The trick is read the trends taken by
the herd and develop a scam which caters to their current taste.
The computer and high tech business was a good ride for many
years. It is more difficult now than in the recent past but one
is still able to find some customers who could be qualified as
marks. Even though the pickings are slimmer FBN continues to find
opportunities in which the maximum amount of money is taken from the
marks, or customers as we call them in public. We at FBN pride
ourselves as being the ultimate opportunist leading the industry in The
Art of Grifting.
